Getting hired through TestGorilla was a great experience. I made myself a cup of coffee, settled in, and had the chance to reflect. It felt like the assessment was focused on my actual knowledge instead of my appearance, which was super freeing. As a designer, I thought the test was challenging but manageable.

When I was hired using TestGorilla, It was so nice. I was able to brew a coffee first, sit down and really think. I felt like I was being tested on what I really know, rather than how I look, which is really liberating. As a designer, I found the test difficult but answerable.

I've got solid proof of my skills, including an IELTS score of C1 that I achieved without any prep, and three 'failed' attempts with Gorilla. It's ridiculous! They seem to be measuring how quickly your brain works rather than your actual language proficiency. A machine is deciding who gets a chance! What’s happening to the world? It’s definitely not improving.

The worst part is the recruiters: you shoot them emails in English (they can read it just fine), they have your resume, your LinkedIn profile, and they even worked at the same place as you. Plus, they have your IELTS results right in front of them. Yet, they still say, 'sorry, you didn’t make it because of Gorilla.'

I used to feel down about this, but now I see just how absurd this whole system is. I really can’t grasp the point of this nonsense.

English is my second language. I have a Master degree in linguistics, 15 years of work experience as a translator and interpreter, 15 years of documented proof of my knowledge level (on the governmental level), an IELTS result of my C1 level which I got unprepared and 3 times "failed" results in Gorilla. Nonsence! They test how automat your brain is and not the level of your language knowledge. A machine decides the fate of an applicant! Where do you go, World? It is definitely not up.
The worst is about the recruiters: you send them emails using English (they see the text with their eyes and brain), they have your Resume, Linkedin profile, they worked in the same company as you, they have your IELTS certificate in front of them. And they say "excuse us, you are not successful due to Gorilla".
In the past I used to be sad, but now I see so clearly well how stupid this machine and the process is. I simply don't understand the purpose of this foolishness.

The most frustrating evaluations I've experienced in my entire life. Can you believe 16 questions and just 10 minutes to tackle those ridiculous queries? Seriously. This isn't made for real people! After finishing the test, I actually had to splash cold water on my face to ease the stress I felt from this assessment site. I just can't wrap my head around it!

Worse assessments ever I've been through in my whole life. Imagine 16 questions and you only have 10 minutes to answer those non sense questions? Come on. This is not designed for human! After the test. I literally had to washed my face with a cold water to calm lessen the stress I've got from this assessment platform. I can't believe it!

Honestly, I can't even give this a single star. I bought a one-year license to try out the software, but I didn't really make the most of it. What I didn't realize was that the auto-renew feature was turned on by default, and even though my card was expired, a year later... they still took money from my account for a new license. The company won't give me a refund. I've asked nicely for my money back and to cancel the new license, but they just hide behind the fine print and take your cash. Avoid this company at all costs.

I can't even justify 1 star to be honest. Purchased a 1 year license to trail the software, didn't really use it to its potential. Little did I know the auto-renew was enable as standard and even though the card details had expired, 1 year later....the money still came from my account for a new license and the company refuses to refund. I have ask politely for a refund and a removal of the new license but they just fall back on small print and grab your money. Stay clear of this firm.

- The whole experience of slogging through your ridiculously lengthy guide before the test creates a mental overload that drains the energy needed for the actual test. #cognitiveOverload #unnecessaryStress

- In that guide (the one you shared), it says, _"We know, this article is very long. It is not required reading!"_ If it’s not necessary, then why push it? #confusive

- Everything about the recording issues (video, audio, and screenshots every 30 seconds) comes off as a threat: "if you don’t let us record you during the test, we might tell your employer you could have cheated." #unnecessaryStress #anxiety

- You suggest taking the entire test in one go, yet also recommend breaks between sections. #confusive

- If I understood correctly, your guidelines say I can’t use outside resources (like search engines) during the multiple-choice tests, but I can during coding sessions. This inconsistency shows a lack of understanding of real coding jobs and creates a sense of absurdity that undermines your credibility as testers. - Allowing access to search engines while recording my screen puts my privacy at risk. You could see my browser suggestions, bookmarks, or history. I could accidentally have something inappropriate pop up during the test, and you’d be capturing it, possibly showing it to my employer. - The test had five sections (Javascript coding/debugging, React multiple-choice, Typescript coding/algorithm, REST API multiple-choice, CSS multiple-choice). I had to bail on your product halfway through the third section because I was hit with an anxiety attack—first time ever. The video recordings you took would show my discomfort, leading me to literally RUN AWAY FROM MY COMPUTER before forcing myself to return. So no, I’m not giving you another chance like you deny to those who face your inhumane testing conditions and fail due to YOUR FAILINGS. The other reviews on Trustpilot back this up.

- The first test (Javascript coding/debugging) is the only one I can’t really complain about. It was on "regex capturing groups," which is so theoretical and abstract that I’ve never used it in real scenarios (and I’m a Senior Dev). I found that test (which I failed while being watched) completely disconnected from reality and way too hard, but at least it was "honest" in setting the bar high.

- The second test (React multiple-choice) had 12 questions in 10 minutes (50 seconds per question) focused solely on React syntax (no skills, just memorization). The snippets were so poorly formatted that it took me nearly 3 minutes just to READ the first question, let alone think it through. With time running out, I had no choice but to guess randomly. After that, I faced the third test feeling utterly lost and anxious, leading to my panic attack.

The support team is not ready to lend a hand. We registered for the service, but soon figured out it wasn't right for our business. We've been attempting to terminate our subscription, yet we keep seeing charges. It's downright frustrating trying to escape this situation.

Their customer service is unwilling to help. We signed up for the platform but we then realized it was not a good fit for our company. We've been trying to cancel our subscription and we keep getting charged for it. It's just impossible to get out of it

Have you ever considered taking a test yourself first? As a native Turkish speaker, I've gone through Turkish language assessments and the so-called computer skills evaluation.

It's just not right to assess a native speaker using phrases that are rarely used. I come from that culture and country, yet I've never encountered any of those expressions. How can you use them to evaluate me? What exactly are you trying to measure?

When it comes to the computer skills part, they seem to be testing knowledge from the 90s. Honestly, Googling something we don’t know is also a computer skill, not just knowing how to turn on a computer. This feels like an attack. I can’t believe we, as job seekers, put in so much effort, yet companies assess us in this way.

It's not fair to test a native Turkish speaker with unused idioms. I am coming from that culture and country, and I have never heard of any of them. How can you use them to test me? What exactly are you testing?

For the computer skills, they are basically testing computer skills from the 90s. I am sorry but Googling something that we don't know is also a computer skill, not knowing how to open a computer. This is just an assault. I can't believe we as job seekers try so hard but the companies test us like this.
